Lead Facilities Technician

The Facilities Lead Technician is primarily responsible for the Maintenance and upkeep of selected properties, occupancy, Electrical maintenance, HVAC maintenance, Heating and cooling systems including boilers, chillers, cooling towers and associated pumps and controls, construction, relocation, and renovation of assigned corporate premises. Assists in the implementation of corporate standards regarding maintenance of corporate assets and branch facilities to insure proper operations.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Schedules and supervises mechanics and other skilled workers required to execute furniture moves and ordinary repair jobs on projects assigned.
  2. Controls expenditures and approves repairs payments for goods and services within authority; makes recommendations to higher management on matters exceeding that authority.
  3. Repairs and replaces electrical components such as lights, light switches, fixtures ballasts, be able to trouble shoot and repair low voltage office electrical systems.
  4. Performs minor plumbing repairs including sinks, faucets, toilets and lawn irrigation systems.
  5. Performs minor construction including adjusting doors, repairing dry wall, painting, carpet replacement, Ceiling tiles systems and lock & key systems.
  6. Makes periodic inspections of assigned properties and prepares a written report on their condition for the Facilities Manager. Ensures the proper upkeep and maintenance of all company premises assigned.
  7. Assists the Facilities Manager in the preparation and evaluation of policies and programs involving new or improved facilities.
  8. Assists in the development and recommendation of company-wide work space standards to maximize operational efficiency and reduce occupancy expense.
  9. Performs minor furniture repairs; moves, relocations and reconfigure furniture work stations and perform other various tasks associated with general building maintenance.

 


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES:

 

  • Basic knowledge of facilities and/or property management
  • Good interpersonal skills including oral and written communication skills
  • Strong mathematical skills in order to develop project budgets, financial planning and interpret architectural specifications and drawings
  • Working knowledge of HVAC and/or electrical systems
  • Ability to work under pressure and adapt quickly to changing situations
  • Working knowledge of plumbing

This level of knowledge is normally acquired through completion of an Associate's degree and 3-5 years of experience; or 6-8 years of work related experience.
