The Enterprise Risk Consultant I serves as the enterprise risk management liaison providing thought leadership, guidance, and meaningful input to ensure risks are understood, risk mitigation strategies and controls are developed, and appropriate reporting mechanisms are in place. Functions as an independent challenge function for operational risk. Complexity level of assigned Lines of Business varies from moderate to complex and requires a high order of analytical, interpretive and/or constructive thinking in varied situations covering multiple areas of the Bank. Acts as a change agent for the promotion of a risk management culture.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Facilitates translation of leadership risk strategy into executable processes and drives implementation efforts to benefit the business through appropriate risk taking. Creates/facilitates strategic relationship among the three lines of defense which supports LOBs taking calculated risks while providing a documented risk management framework for auditors and other review functions. Plans, organizes and executes the facilitation of risk and control identification with senior leaders and staff of assigned LOBs. Curates well-documented inventory of risks and controls for assigned LOB RCSAs. Collaborates with Enterprise Risk Operations Analysts on the development and distribution of risk management reports and dashboards ensuring data quality and accuracy. With limited oversight from Manager, and/or more senior team members, effectively interacts with external regulators and internal auditors as subject matter expert on BOKF’s internal controls framework. With limited oversight from Manager, and/or more senior team members, monitors timely execution of remediation efforts by assigned LOB’s when processes and control measures are determined to be non-compliant with established internal control framework.
  2. With guidance from Manager and/or senior team members assesses execution and effectiveness of controls and proactively identifies emerging risks and control improvements to support effective monitoring and management risks. Drives ad-hoc risk projects to completion with high degree of quality. Collects, documents and escalates operational risk events within the LOBs and within the organization as appropriate with relevant root cause analysis. Presents LOB leaders with clear and concise written and verbal communications regarding risk assessments specifying outcome discrepancies, risk identification in addition to regulatory and/or policy issues.
  3. Researches relevant industry, financial services and regulatory issues to build upon knowledge base, identifying trends and shares insights with team. Anticipates and identifies issues inhibiting the attainment of assigned goals; develops and implements corrective actions.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES:

  • Conceptual thinking and analytical skills with the ability to analyze complex problems that include interrelationships and dependencies in order to identify common themes and solutions
  • Oral and written communication skills, as well as ability to present complex information and issues in a clear and concise manner
  • Ability to effectively plan time, method, manner and sequence of work assignments

This level of knowledge is normally acquired through completion of a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, MIS, or related field. Master’s Degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, MIS, or related field, preferred. Minimum 3 years’ experience within the financial services industry focusing on Risk Management, Audit, Compliance, or management of business process with accountability for compliance and operational risk. Preferred certifications: Operational Risk Management Certification, PMP, PMI-RMP, CCSA, CRMA.
