Product Manager - Mortgage Operations Engineering Consultant

The Mortgage Operations Engineering Consultant is responsible for complex business process analysis and design, project management (planning, scheduling, resource tracking, communication, and analysis), and systems process analysis, documentation, and management; works with business groups to solve business problems through business process improvement and available technology.  Focus is on process analysis, with an understanding of mortgage industry practices, sensitivity to regulatory environment, and knowledge of technical problems and solutions as they relate to the current and future business needs associated with all aspects of loan origination and across all channels.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Tactical and Strategic Analysis

  • Provides complex business process modeling (includes logical modeling and business process modeling)
  • Diagnosis, remediation of problems and root cause analysis
  • Creation of business and/or functional requirements for complex projects
  • Create structures for knowledge transfer

Identify Problems and Improve Business Performance

  • Business Process Discovery
  • BPM, Analysis, and Design
  • Governance and Process Policy Management
  • Process Performance Management

Building and Evolving Solutions to Support Process Improvement

  • Solution architecture and design
  • BPM technology product knowledge
  • Agile and Model-Driven application development
  • Business Process Optimization and Simulation
  • User experience design

Project Management

  • Provides projects estimates for complex projects and enhancements.
  • Ability to manage complex projects using methodology, artifacts, funding, etc.
  • Perform testing on complex projects and enhancements.
  • Management of Request for Information (RFI)/ Request for Proposal (RFP) Process.
  • Change Control Management as it applies to supported applications and projects.

Technical Support

  • Ability to provide technical requirements/specifications for simple to complex projects.
  • Provide guidance on software integration points and the technology and/or systems used in the organization.
  • Write and execute SQL queries.
  • Create reports from database repositories.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES:

  • Core competency in diagnosis and remediation of problems.
  • Core competency in performing root cause analysis.
  • Core competency of Project Management Methodology (basic framework, phases, artifacts, process, and project funding).
  • Knowledge of BPR/BPM, Lean, Six Sigma, TQM, Agile
  • Understanding of tiered environments (e.g. development, testing, UAT, production, DR).
  • Understanding of technology standards and concepts.
  • Understanding of complex application data flows across multiple highly integrated applications.
  • Understanding of RDBMS principles and tools.
  • Understanding of Quality/ Testing Methodologies.
  • Understanding of middleware technology.
  • Strong awareness of software integration, system integration, and technology used.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including oral and written communication and presentation skills; presents “solution oriented” perspective.
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving abilities with ability to compile data and present spreadsheets, reports and proposals in consumable form to executive management.

Preferred:

  • 10+ years mortgage industry experience
  • Extensive knowledge of residential mortgage lending, with cross-functional knowledge spanning loan lifecycle from origination through investor settlement
  • Deep understanding of mortgage documents, disclosures, and  investor/insurer/guarantor and regulatory requirements encompassing conventional and government loans, product and pricing structures
  • Hands on experience with loan origination systems, document imaging systems integrations, core mortgage third party vendors, and B2B/B2C internet portals
  • Knowledge of SSRS 2008 R2 or SSRS 2012
  • Excel 2007 VBA scripting, Visio, MS Project

This level of knowledge is normally acquired through completion of a Bachelors Degree in MIS, Business, or Finance and 10-12 years related experience or 16-18 years work related experience, which includes business application support, project management, or development.
