The Financial Planner II performs a broad range of data input and financial planning support duties. Assigned tasks are generally focused on assisting Financial Planner III or IV in preparation and conducting middle to upper-middle class client meetings and overall financial planning. Performs analysis of client relationships including but not limited to; investment options, cash flows, net worth and estate planning. Financial Planner II helps to conduct financial planning research and helps develop systems and processes. Generally operates under guidance of the financial planner but independently sets goals and priorities. Delegates appropriate tasks to Financial Planner I and ensure details of assigned tasks are performed with accuracy and follow-through. Working knowledge of the organization’s policies and practices are essential in order to perform these job functions.



Majority of duties performed, but not meant to be all-inclusive nor prevent other duties from being assigned as necessary.  Non-essential functions identified with an asterisk '*'

  1. Assists advisors with client meetings by; loading necessary data into various software programs, set up and operation of computer during meeting, and assisting with creation of presentation material.     
  2. Leads appropriate level client meetings as directed.       
  3. Responds to client calls/emails and assists with client issues outside of meetings, as directed.    
  4. Performs financial planning research and helps to develop internal systems and processes         
  5. Assist with client paperwork, analysis of clients’ cash flow, insurance documents, and net worth statements, as directed.       



Minimum education, experience, technical and communication skill levels and licenses/certificates normally required to perform the duties of this position

  • Knowledge of: Financial Planning, Banking, and Finances in general
  • Advanced PC and software application skills; ability to create graphs, presentations, and reports              
  • Good interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks in a competent and professional manner as well as delegate tasks appropriately
  • Continuing education, and Networking


This level of knowledge is normally acquired through completion of a Bachelor’s degree or 5 years equivalent experience in the financial industry.


Preferred:  Completion, or progress toward completion, of NASD Series 65, CFA, CFP, or equivalent.
