The Energy Analyst I is primarily responsible for assisting the senior Energy Analysts and Petroleum Engineers in the preparation and processing of data for oil and gas evaluations; working as directed to acquire new job skills in order to provide technical computer support, and maintenance of the engineering filing system including both paper and electronic files under the direction of senior analysts.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Creates data files and inputs data such as ownership interests, production forecasts, revenue streams, capital costs, operating expenses, product prices and applicable pricing differentials; into Petroleum Engineering software as directed. Accesses a variety of input data forms from various sources including program databases, spreadsheets, and online sources; inputs data into spreadsheets to track important statistics (e.g. NYMEX oil and gas prices).
  2. Responds to various requests for production and pricing updates of economic evaluations and assists in the preparation of 1-line economic summaries to be used by the bank's legal team in preparing mortgages.
  3. Works under the supervision of the Energy Analyst III and the Petroleum Engineers as directed to help provide timely technical analysis and evaluation to the energy lending staff.
  4. Builds both paper and electronic job files and is responsible for day-to-day maintenance of the engineering filing system. This includes the updating and filing of client data in paper files and in electronic files and databases; and the creation and maintenance of appropriate backup copies for data security.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES:
  • Working knowledge of Oil and Gas industry
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Comprehensive PC skills, including Excel and Word
  • Ability and willingness to learn oil and gas reserve evaluation software, for example ARIES or PHD. The applicant would be expected to successfully complete software training classes and to further develop their knowledge of the software through self-study
  • Ability to attain proficiency with commercial industry databases such as IHS; and to develop competence in acquiring data from state regulatory bodies such as the Texas Railroad Commission or the Oklahoma Corporation Commission
  • Must be able to take direction and work with minimal direct supervision
This level of knowledge is normally demonstrated by the completion of an Associates Degree combined with 1+ years in the energy industry or 3+ years related experience. Preference would be a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Earth Sciences or related subject.
