Business Analyst II

The Business Analyst II is primarily responsible for collaborating with both internal and external partners to advance the retirement services digital offerings (StartRight).  This is accomplished by creating clean, efficient, and positive user experiences for web and mobile applications used by our external retirement customers.  Focus will be placed on design and prototyping while validating that the user experience delivers business value as well as the aesthetic, functional, and workflow requirements. This position is also responsible for defining and performing analysis, design, documentation, planning, and deployment of system software and procedures which require moderate technical and systems knowledge. 

 

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

1. Analytical Skills: 

  • Write business requirements and project estimates for simple to complex projects.  Complex projects may include multiple business lines, technologies, and infrastructures.
  • Ensures that user interface design requirements and LOB acceptance criteria are captured within supplied system/tools
  • Works with Line of Business representatives to visually articulate business objectives.
  • Validates user interface requirements are in adherence with accepted user interface design standards and best practices.
  • Perform Business Process Modeling (includes logical modeling, data retention, and business process modeling) for simple to complex projects.
  • Understands Data Flows (includes data mapping and conversion mapping) for projects ranging in complexity from single application data flow to highly integrated application flow.

2. Technical Skills: 

  • Provides technical requirements/specifications for simple to complex projects.  Complex projects may include multiple business lines, technologies, and infrastructures.
  • Develops user interfaces for software packages, web pages, and web sites using Abstract or other tools offered
  • Translates concepts into resulting user experience through
    • Prototypes
    • Mockups
    • Wire Frames
    • Site Maps
    • Schematics
    • User Stories
  • Uses graphical imagery to visual representations of concepts and design of the intended user interface.
  • Validates visual design and prototypes adhere to corporate standards
  • Validates visual design and prototypes adhere to business and functional requirements
  • Collaborates with technical and development teams to for technical feasibility review and work estimates of proposed user experience requirements.
  • Works with Tiered environments (Dev, Test, UAT, Prod)

3. Application Support Skills: 

  • Reviews application and web site use statistics in order to enhance the user experience
  • Interprets application and web sites statistics in order to make the site more intuitive and desirable for the intended users
  • Performs root cause analysis for discovered errors or issues
  • Diagnose and remediate problems
  • Develops and maintains application documentation
  • Tracks metrics and trends of application performance and remediate issues

4. Relationship Management Skills

  • Manages relationship between IS and Line of Business management levels e.g., Supervisory (AVP, Officer), Management (VP, AVP), and Senior Management (SVP, VP).
  • Able to develop and expand relationship with business partners to understand line goals and objectives.
  • Works with project team and LOB partners to reprioritize work as needed when LOB  objectives or directives shift

5. Management Skills

  • Leads teams in the definition of detailed user interface business and functional requirements
  • Conducts meetings with LOB or product owner(s) for review and obtain approval of designs
  • Problem management – ability to lead any effort to resolve any issue
  • Project management - familiarity with Agile and Scrum methodology/techniques

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES:

 

  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to use qualitative and quantitative data to steer design decisions
  • Ability to generate use cases, task flows, screen, and interaction design
  • Experience with Internet Information Services (IIS)
  • Experience with graphic editing tools
  • Experience in usability techniques, issues, and guidance
  • Experience with user centered design and development methodologies
  • Experience with usability testing
  • Understanding of basic and complex software security concepts
  • Understanding of tiered environments e.g., Development, Test, User Acceptance, Production
  • Understanding of Technology Standards and concepts
  • Understanding of interaction design and methodology
  • Understanding of internet banking and transaction-based websites
  • Understanding of qualitative and quantitative research methodologies
  • Understanding of color theory
  • Understanding of Agile methodologies, and specifically Scrum frameworks (including Scrum ceremonies and the outputs thereof)

 

This level of knowledge is normally acquired through completion of a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Technology/Science, Design or a related field and 3+ years’ experience in user experience, interaction design, web or application design and development, functional analysis, or business analysis, or 10+ years of work related experience.
