Compliance Officer, Consumer/Commercial

The Compliance Officer, Consumer/Commercial is responsible for administering the Consumer and Commercial Compliance Monitoring Program to ensure technical compliance with applicable regulations. The monitoring program includes the monitoring of business line controls, complaint reporting (including enhanced complaint review), business line marketing requests, and any business line remediation plans related to self-identified issues, Compliance Testing findings, and/or Audit findings. This person will provide monthly reporting and consultation to supported business lines, Compliance Management, and the Chief Compliance Officer. Additional duties include research and analysis of products and business practices to identify deficiencies in policy, procedure or implementation of products and services. The Compliance Officer will also provide support on regulatory change implementations.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Works independently to perform Consumer, Commercial and ‘consumer related’ Private Bank compliance control monitoring; Performs analysis of regulatory issues which require a high order of analytical, interpretive and constructive thinking in covering multiple areas of the bank; With limited oversight from Manager, documents effectiveness of controls monitored, and produces management reports including, but not limited to, monitoring dashboard/activity trackers, and KRI reporting; Proposes appropriate corrective action plans to Consumer/Commercial Compliance Manager and Director for exceptions and weaknesses identified; Partners with LOB to document and resolve issues identified in corrective action plans; Provides specialist knowledge to business teams on Compliance matters to ensure a culture of collaboration and partnership; Works with limited guidance from Manager on validation of business line controls identified in Compliance risk assessments; Develops effective retention processes to ensure documents conform with audit/testing standards
  2. Works independently on review and approval of corporate-wide marketing campaigns to ensure content is compliant with all applicable regulations; Provides content revision recommendations to mitigate Compliance risks; Collaborates with Compliance Department personnel on content within marketing materials, while providing LOB with discretion in tone/style of the message
  3. Analyze monthly consumer complaints to identify presence of technical compliance issues, and present findings in monthly group meetings held with each LOB; Perform root-cause analysis, ensuring systemic patterns or practices of noncompliance are mitigated; Develops recommendations for changes to processes and systems that will mitigate risk, improve performance and ensure the organization complies with all relevant regulations

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES:

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills to effectively represent self and BOKF in the presentation of complex information
  • Strong knowledge of Compliance regulations
  • Excellent independent research and analytical skills to detect patterns, trends and unusual activity in bank processes
  • Excellent ability to assimilate voluminous regulatory rules and guidance and effectively communicate the required actions to multiple stakeholders
  • Broad knowledge and understanding of all facets of banking
  • Extensive experience in banking system-platforms and reporting capabilities

This level of knowledge is generally acquired through completion of a Bachelor’s degree and 3-5 years of Compliance or operational risk experience, or 7-12 years equivalent experience in a banking environment. Compliance or Risk Management experience is preferred. Professional certification (CRCM or equivalent) is also preferred.
