The Manager of Infrastructure Engineering is a key role as a member of the Infrastructure and Operations leadership team.  This is an exciting opportunity to lead a diverse and highly-skilled group of IT engineering professionals.  The Manager of Infrastructure Engineering is responsible for strategy, collaboration with other technology teams, and acts as an escalation point for any operational issues resulting from outages or issues with overall infrastructure system performance.  This individual will work as part of a diverse and exciting cross-functional team to manage a modern technology infrastructure including Cisco, HDS, Veritas, VMware, Dell and other infrastructure elements in an enterprise multi data center environment.  As an active and visible member of the Infrastructure and Operations leadership team, the Manager of Infrastructure Engineering contributes thought leadership for strategies to improve overall operational support through strategic partnerships and cutting-edge technologies.

 

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

1. Core Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for leading a high energy IT engineering team.
  • Manage core infrastructure technologies and ensure operational excellence to enable BOK Financial to compete and win in the financial services vertical.
  • Ensure BOKF technology systems are stable and available to internal and external customers in accordance with established service level objectives. 
  • Oversee design of servers, storage devices and network devices to meet business needs.
  • Identify solutions through collaboration with appropriate management levels, technology departments and technology vendors to ensure that a cost-effective and efficient infrastructure enables bank operations.

2. Projects and business as usual:

  • Manage resources to install storage, networks and systems infrastructure.
  • Oversee upgrades and lead research efforts for potential solutions to complex business technology problems.
  • Minimize productivity loss caused by technology outages and provide necessary infrastructure for clients to meet their business needs.
  • Work with PMO & Enterprise Architecture teams to develop budget estimates and resource prioritization to ensure technology is delivered on time and within budget. 

 

3. Cross Functional Responsibilities:

  • Lead collaboration with various technology groups across the enterprise:
    • Enterprise Architecture
    • Digital Solutions
    • Information Security
    • Business Analysts
    • IT Operations
    • IT Development
    • Vendor Management Office

 

4. Vendor & Service Provider Interactions:

  • Manage relationships with key vendor partners or manufacturers and hold them accountable to BOK Financial.
  • Leverage vendor relationships to augment staff capabilities, provide technology roadmaps, assist with operational issues, provide technology training, and suggest solutions to bank technology issues.
  • Negotiate technology and maintenance pricing in collaboration with the VMO.

 

5. Security & Risk:

  • Ensure that all infrastructure technology solutions conform to BOKF established Information Security guidelines.
  • Partner with Information Security Engineering team to test validate and integrate new security or risk controls into core infrastructure delivery as required.     

 

6. Strategic Focus:

  • Assist in developing strategic and tactical planning of infrastructure environments for internal customers, including discovery and documentation of user requirements before development design and programming. Recommend standards and guidelines.
  • Stay abreast of evolving infrastructure technologies. Evaluate hardware and software vendors and products and recommend purchases consistent with BOKF’s short and long term objectives.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES

 

  • A desire to lead in a dynamic and exciting environment that is constantly maturing and evolving to better support our business and customers.
  • Thorough understanding of distributed IT systems architecture and comprehensive knowledge of multiple technical disciplines.
  • Ability to lead the resolution of core infrastructure technology issues.
  • Manage the performance and capacity of network, storage, and compute infrastructure environments.
  • Strong technical knowledge and aptitude in the areas of networks, network topologies, servers, storage and applicable software and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of a variety of client server operating systems including but not limited to Microsoft Windows server and desktop operating systems and various Unix operating systems.
  • Broad range of LAN and WAN knowledge/skills including; frame relay, ATM, MPLS, Ethernet, SNA gateways, TCP/IP, routers, bridges, hubs, extenders and understanding of the 7 layer OSI model.
  • Ability to effectively adapt to rapidly changing technology and apply it to business needs.
  • Strong understanding of the enterprise business and business processes; knowledge of business unit functions and cross-group dependencies and relationships.
  • Deep understanding of project management methodologies and strong process orientation.
  • Excellent leadership skills and experience managing diverse, highly technical teams.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate technical ideas in a non-technical way to all levels of employees across the enterprise.
  • Employee must be able to work independently, is self-motivated and results-oriented.  Must prioritize conflicting demands to achieve optimum service performance.
  • Adheres to company standards and methodology, confidentiality and security requirements and consistently demonstrates a high level of integrity and professionalism.

 

This level of knowledge is normally acquired through completion of a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Technology/Science, information technology certifications, and 8-12 years experience as technical system support, systems engineering; or 8-12 years’ of work related experience in an IT leadership capacity.
