The IT Team ManagerThe IT Team Manager is responsible for planning and managing all activities within the assigned Information Services business unit/area. This includes multiple applications supporting development, maintenance and enhancement efforts utilizing various computing architectures, (e.g., client/server, intranet, web) or mainframe platforms.

  1. Manages the work of a professional staff that supports applications and systems owned and used by the business units; determines work priorities and schedules work assignments; evaluates, orients, counsels, and trains subordinate personnel; provides staff with clear, concise direction and provides performance feedback. Anticipates and identifies issues inhibiting the attainment of assigned unit/area goals; develops and implements corrective actions.
  2. Oversees aspects of systems analysis, design, development, maintenance, and enhancement for application systems for an assigned unit/area; assesses customer requirements, evaluates possible solutions and presents recommendations to IT management; contributes to the development of annual business application system plans; ensures that application systems are developed in a way that complies with architectural standards and established methodologies and practices.
  3. Ensures department efficiency by predicting, planning, controlling, and implementing changes in workload, procedures, and schedules through analysis of internal operation and business requirements. Fosters and maintains good relationships with internal business partners to ensure processes are integrated to support expected customer service levels.
  4. Researches and resolves problems which require knowledge, judgment and handling beyond staff experience and knowledge.
  5. Participates as a unit representative in mergers and acquisitions and operational conversions.

  • Knowledge of technology and workflow efficiency
  • Knowledge and understanding of the needs of the business units and how these needs can be addressed through technology
  • Analytical, problem solving and conceptual skills including the ability to analyze processes through logical and creative thinking
  • Knowledge of team building skills
  • Ability to lead and develop a small team of professionals
  • Organizational skills, including the ability to think logically and effectively assimilate meaningful information from large amounts of data ensuring critical deadlines are met
  • PC skills including word processing and spreadsheet applications
  • Verbal and written communication skills, with an ability to express complex technical concepts in business terms
This level of knowledge is normally acquired through completion of Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Information Management, or a related field and 7-10 years of practical experience or 10+ years of equivalent experience.
