The Market Risk Analyst III aggregates and evaluates the Bank’s most complex risk exposures according to tolerance levels set by BOKF Board and executive management committees. In carrying out the responsibilities of this position, the incumbent identifies, escalates and oversees resolution of out of tolerance positions.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Develops and implements robust analytical models that provide independent valuation and risk assessments of securities and derivatives to support business line decision making, risk management and financial reporting. Performs analyses on the Bank’s most complex trading exposures and strategies where analysis of out of tolerance positions requires critical thinking and a broad understanding of varied situations covering multiple areas of the Bank. Performs complex valuations of products which require a high order of analytical, interpretive and/or constructive thinking in varied situations covering multiple areas of the Bank. Works independently with support from Manager and is expected to recommend and implement improvements to established procedures as well as utilize innovations and new technologies, as applicable, to efficiently measure market risk exposure and identify out of tolerance situations. Works with support from Manager to ensure on-going integrity of the market risk framework through proactively identifying control weaknesses. Uses broad base of knowledge and experience to develop recommendations for changes to processes and systems that will mitigate risk, improve performance and ensure the organization complies with all relevant regulations.
  2. Monitors and coordinates dealer counterparty approval and exposure process including direct trading, derivative, structural and investing positions for the purpose of identifying prices risks that could result in losses in other risk categories. Owns the development and delivery of market risk reports and counterparty exposures to Senior Loan and ALCO executive committees.
  3. Researches relevant industry, financial services and regulatory issues to build upon knowledge base, identifies trends and uses acquired knowledge to recommend changes & modifications to established protocols and procedures. Administers market risk management training for business units and model owners.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES:

  • Intellectual curiosity; superior problem-solving abilities and attention to detail; and prompt follow-through
  • Ability to aggregate and synthesize complex data from multiple sources
  • Oral and written communication skills to effectively represent self and BOKF, as well as ability to present complex information and issues in a clear and concise manner
  • Experience in report design, accessing and manipulating data
  • Strong ability to build and review complex mathematical transformations to determine existing and projected derivative and embedded option security risks
  • Knowledge of sources, impact and measure of interest rate, liquidity and price risk
  • Knowledge and understanding of risk exposure measurements and data gathering techniques
  • Masters’ Degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business or related field
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM field preferred
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience related risk management, risk control, financial analysis, and derivatives valuation and strategy with minimum 3 years’ experience within the financial services industry with extensive knowledge/understanding of financial institution products and services, risk management standards and financial theory
