The Mortgage Credit Risk Manager coordinates various credit quality risk related activities to identify, measure, monitor, report and collaborate on adaptive actions to ensure continuous improvement of credit policy and process execution. Strong emphasis is on managing Credit/Investor Quality Assurance pre-emptive and corrective governance; development, ongoing assessment and refinement of credit policy, processes, systems, vendors and controls.


  1. Responsible for policy development and interpretation based on a combination of loan quality, loan performance, and peer analytics. Indentifies risks, risk sources, and potential actions. Also, acts as a subject matter expert, providing interpretation and analysis of credit policy.


  • 10 years progressively more responsible cross-functional mortgage origination experience in at least two functional areas, excluding credit policy (e.g., origination, processing, underwriting, closing, loan delivery/post closing, quality control, and compliance).
  • 5 years subject matter expertise in credit policy including the ability to develop and interpret policy documents.
  • 5 years experience in hiring, educating, coaching and rewarding employees.
  • Strong knowledge of SEC (Sarbanes Oxley) Section 404 controls management and reporting requirements.
  • Strong knowledge of the COSO Integrated Frameworks (Enterprise Risk Management Integrated Framework and Internal Control Integrated Framework)
  • Expert level knowledge of policies and requirements of the GSEs (FNMA & FHLMC) and Investors/Insurers and Guarantors (e.g., FHA, VA, USDA, GNMA, HUD’s Office of Native American Programs, State and Local Housing Authorities, and private Mortgage Insurers).
  • Strong working knowledge of WGS/Unify/MSP/and Investor/Insurers/Guarantor as well as loan quality related vendor systems/interfaces utilized by BOKF.
  • Strong working knowledge of procedures and workflows utilized to originate, purchase, sell and/or service residential mortgages and to manage associated Vendors.
  • Working knowledge of Power Point/Excel/Word/SharePoint.
  • Must have the ability to develop strong interpersonal alliances at varying appropriate levels, both within and outside the organization.
  • Must be able to translates plans/policies/audit findings/remedial action plan recommendations into specific actionable goals, tactics, action plans and deliverables.
  • Must be able to influence and negotiate with key internal and external stakeholders, including Investors/Guarantors/Insurers, and third party vendors.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including oral and written communication skills and technical writing and presentation skills.
  • Possess good judgment, leadership, and business skills such as critical thinking, analytical, and decision making.
  • Must be able to effectively demonstrate teamwork skills as both team leader and team member.
  • Ability to develop key position documents and write clear, concise and accurate policies and management reports.
  • Strong working knowledge of Power Point/Excel/Word/SharePoint/WGS/Unify/MSP/and all systems utilized by Investors/Insurers and Guarantors.

This level of knowledge is normally acquired through completion of a Bachelors Degree and 10 -15 years equivalent broad based Mortgage, including Mortgage Risk work experience; or 15 -20 years of equivalent work related experience.
