The Senior Banker will establish and maintain strong client relationships with a focus on providing expertise and an impactful business relationship.  Identify opportunities to expand and grow the Bank’s loan and deposit portfolio with new client acquisition and retention.  Successfully execute and implement a business development and calling strategy that results in the growth of the Bank’s market share and meets Bank standards.  Facilitate introductions and referrals to Bank affiliates to contribute to increased fee income.  Contribute to the development and career growth of junior bankers through mentorship and coaching.


Duties and Responsibilities


Business Development (60% of time)

Senior Bankers add value to prospects and clients by serving as a business advisor and facilitator. The Banker provides introductions to experts, facilitates networking opportunities, recommends solutions for business/operating issues, and identifies product solutions and support to align with the individual and company’s short and long-term goals and objectives.

Senior Bankers understand clients’ and prospects’ businesses and their unique nuances, operating cycles and industry challenges.  Key activities to achieving this understanding are: 

  • Consulting with clients to understand their needs.
  • Collaborating with Bank partners to serve the needs and goals of clients.
  • Connecting clients with other resources.


Transaction Execution (25% of time)

Senior Bankers orchestrate the review, analysis, approval and execution of loan transactions by coordinating the interaction between the client and internal parties to complete transactions designed to meet the complete financial needs of clients.  Activities include: 

  • Consulting with existing and prospective clients to gather information concerning business needs, desires, abilities, and financial condition to ascertain suitability of financing opportunities and acceptability of risk profile for the Bank.
  • Collaborating with FCM to identify initial terms on which credit may be extended and communicating preliminary loan structure to client.
  • Coordinating with Loan Administrator to ensure full compliance with all lending regulatory requirements, e.g., flood, Reg B and FCRA.
  • Perform job functions in compliance with all company policies and federal/state rules and regulations as applicable to the position, including, but not limited to BSA/AML, OFAC, and GLBA/privacy rules.


Portfolio Administration (5% of time)

Senior Bankers provide strategic guidance and direction to Loan Administrators and Portfolio Administrators with respect to daily administration of the loan portfolio. Additionally, Bankers take action in situations that require direct negotiation or interaction with clients regarding loan performance or compliance.

  • Review all reporting generated by Portfolio Administrators regarding loan reporting, covenant compliance, past due status and pending maturities to assess overall portfolio performance and potential issues.
  • Consult with FCM to devise and implement strategies regarding underperforming loans or client defaults under existing loans.
  • Make final determinations regarding non-conforming borrowing requests within assigned credit approval limits.


Coaching (10% of time)

Senior Bankers mentor, coach and act as a resource for Bankers that are less experienced.




Senior Bankers will be expected to demonstrate mastery of the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:


  • Advanced knowledge of general banking principles and regulations. 
  • Advanced knowledge of lending practices, treasury management and depository products.
  • Comprehensive understanding of credit structure and general accounting principles.
  • Broad knowledge of a variety of businesses and industries.
  • Strong business development and client relationship skills.

  • Proven leadership capability.
  • Exceptional collaboration and teamwork approach.

  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality regarding client and Bank information.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office software and internal Bank systems.


This level of knowledge is normally acquired through completion of a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or appropriate business-related field. Minimum ten years previous Banking experience.
