Trust Associate - Institutional Wealth

The Institutional Wealth Senior Trust Associate is primarily responsible for managing and overseeing the services delivered to IW Clients. Also serves as a backup in the Relationship Manager’s absence, which requires interaction with large, complex, and/or high profile clients, plan participants, attorneys, investment managers, accountants, auditors, and consultants as well as Bank Administrative and Wealth Management Services personnel. The Senior Trust Associate analyzes, develops and implements solutions for extremely complex accounts and Departmental problems and issues. Works under limited supervision.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Analyzes, evaluates, recommends and implements solutions for various large/complex client related issues and problems that arise. This includes problem resolution with large client accounts; serves as liaison between Wealth Management Services and client; performs complex research, develops solutions and communicates the resolution of the problem to client.
  2. Interacts with clients, plan participants, auditors, attorneys, investment managers, and accountants via telephone, e-mail, written communications or meetings regarding problem resolution and/or account maintenance; performs research and communicates the resolution of the problem to client.
  3. Plans and implements the transition of new IW clients including large and complex account relationships; communicates with prior service providers and new client; organizes transfer of assets, coordinates transfer of recordkeeping data (for retirement plans); reviews all legal and other documentation regarding the transfer. Drafts and develops all forms of written communication that are necessary for the plan transfer. Responsible for account documentation as required by IW and Division Procedures, including all aspect of new account set up; interprets plan and other governing document information; obtains necessary information and develops and completes all necessary new account documentation including: Opening of accounts on the trust accounting system; completing accounting brief for retirement plan accounts; submitting fee brief; completing and coordinating all necessary new business reporting; completing enrollment packet fulfillment information for retirement accounts; completing required documentation when opening/closing accounts.

 


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES:

 

  • Advanced knowledge of accounting practices and principles in order to effectively evaluate the needs of retirement plan sponsors and other institutional clients
  • With regard to retirement plans, advanced knowledge of the requirements of ERISA and related IRS Regulations and an understanding of the principles of participant recordkeeping for defined contribution plans
  • Advanced knowledge of investments including different types of strategies and styles
  • Advanced knowledge of securities and mutual funds trading and settlement functions, including where applicable, the Bank’s self-directed brokerage product for participant directed retirement plans
  • Experienced in use of software applications, including expertise with various word processing and spreadsheet applications, including Web-based systems used internally and externally
  • Excellent oral, written and communication skills; excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent presentation skills including presenting in front of a group
  • Ability to analyze highly complex information and data in order to develop and recommend solutions in challenging projects

This level of knowledge is normally acquired through completion of a Bachelors degree.
