About the Role

You’ll keep our systems stable and resolve incidents by diagnosing, isolating, and debugging software problems. You’ll perform low to medium complexity tasks encountered by end-users related to Linux, Windows and Unix systems. Overall, you will provide business applications with a well-tuned infrastructure environment.

Every day will be different. You will troubleshoot and work with other teams to resolve issues. Other days will consist of routine maintenance of data centers and special projects.

Performing well in this role will position you to move into the Sr. Systems Engineer role or wish to explore other career paths within the bank. Your career is what you make it.

How You'll Spend Your Time

  • You’ll support Linux/Unix/Windows OS engineering activities, including technical support, systems configuration, testing, and implementation.
  • You’ll troubleshoot server-related issues and perform root cause analysis.
  • You will utilize SolarWinds monitoring tool.
  • You will provide daily operational support, maintenance, and administration for servers and other components.

COMMUNICATION: You’ll need exceptional verbal and written communication to express yourself clearly and concisely to internal audiences.

TECHNICAL SKILLS: You are tech-savvy and understand the systems you support, including their integrations and how they affect all sides. In-depth knowledge of ServiceNow, SolarWinds, MS server, and load balancing is vital.

RELATIONSHIP BUILDER: You relate to any audience and build trust by leveraging strong interpersonal skills and a high integrity level.

RESULTS ORIENTED: You show initiative by focusing on the desired deliverables and meeting and exceeding your goals.

PROBLEM SOLVER: You can track and solve complex problems in a variety of situations and function effectively in rapidly changing or uncertain conditions.

Education & Experience Requirements

The required level of knowledge is normally acquired through completion of a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field and 3-5 years’ experience in supporting systems engineering activities in the Windows/Unix systems area or equivalent combination of education and work related experience.

 

  • Thorough knowledge of technical disciplines required to support a mission-critical Windows/Unix enterprise.  Knowledge of intranet and web is also desirable
  • Proficient in at least one Unix operating system and Windows OS
  • Basic knowledge of internal and external disks, hardware connectivity, disk arrays, tape drives, hardware shutdown and boot-up procedures, disk format configuration, volume manager software
  • Basic knowledge of internetworking protocols
  • Strong analytical problem-solving and communication skills
