The Senior Microcomputer Specialist is primarily responsible for performing complex tasks under minimal supervision, to support all PC and PC network connection related activities. Provides guidance and support to Microcomputer Specialist I technicians.  Supports all the various bank departments and member companies of BOK Financial.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Utilizes skills to support and resolve complex problems encountered by end users related to all areas of PC usage and network access which includes the fulfillment of the more technically challenging Service Requests.  These requests could include PC, telecommunications, new software installation and out of the ordinary or non-mainstream type configurations.
  2. Assumes responsibility for projects which are usually highly technical in nature, such as all associated equipment installation and setup. Meets timelines and schedules set by management which, if not met, can be critical and costly.
  3. Replaces, maintains, and upgrades branch automation equipment and Servers which includes troubleshooting on highly involved server malfunctions affecting the ability of the site or branch to do business.
  4. Supports the Application Support personnel by installing and configuring sophisticated software programs in remote locations which requires an in-depth knowledge of computer memory configuration and operating system functionality. Coordinates and completes hardware installation for new branches which includes installation and setup of servers, workstations, printers, faxes and all peripheral equipment. Remains abreast of rapidly changing world of PC and network technology by utilizing all available reference materials and courses offered.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES:

  • Advanced knowledge and understanding of a variety of operating systems including but not limited to Windows Operating Systems
  • Advanced knowledge and understanding of the operation of all types of PC hardware and the ability to quickly and effectively diagnose complex problems
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of a cornucopia of software and the ability to understand new applications with a minimum of prior exposure to the product
  • Working knowledge and understanding of mainframe communications
  • Working knowledge of Local Area Network (LAN) and Wide Area Network (WAN) hardware and software
  • Working knowledge of telecommunications
  • Excellent communications and interpersonal skills; ability to work as a team member and provide guidance and training to lower level technicians

This level of knowledge is normally acquired through completion of an Associate’s Degree in Computer Technology/Science and/or 8-10 years of work related experience in a business technology environment.
