Job Description
The Associate Corporate Counsel provides legal support across the organization’s diversified financial services operations, including retail banking, mortgage banking/servicing, wealth management, commercial banking, corporate banking, and specialized lending. This role supports the General Counsel and senior corporate counsel by advising on legal matters, assisting with legal operations, and helping ensure compliance with regulatory and corporate governance requirements. This role is designed for an attorney with foundational experience in regulated environments who is building depth in financial services law and legal risk management in a business context. The Associate Corporate Counsel collaborates closely with business leaders and cross-functional teams and works with the guidance of senior attorneys.

How You'll Spend Your Time
- You will provide legal guidance to business units on regulatory, transactional, and operational matters, escalating issues when needed.
- You will draft, review, and revise contracts, including deposit, mortgage, vendor, and privacy agreements.
- You will analyze legal documents to ensure accuracy, compliance, and alignment with business needs.
- You will conduct legal research and interpret regulations to support informed decision-making.
- You will support daily legal operations, including matter intake, document management, and issue tracking.
- You will work with Compliance, Risk, and business teams to manage legal risk, governance activities, and strategic initiatives.
Education & Experience Requirements
Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school. Licensed attorney in good standing. Typically, 4+ years of relevant legal experience, preferably in financial services, banking, consumer finance, mortgage, or another regulated industry. Prior in-house experience or experience supporting regulated businesses is preferred but not required.
- Foundational knowledge of federal and state regulations applicable to banking and financial services.
- Understanding of contract law, regulatory compliance, and corporate governance concepts.
- Strong legal research, analytical, and issue-spotting skills.
- Effective drafting skills for contracts, legal analysis, and related communications.
- Ability to communicate legal concepts clearly to non-legal business partners.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Demonstrated professionalism, discretion, and attention to detail.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a legal team and across functional disciplines.
- Willingness to seek guidance and incorporate feedback to strengthen legal judgment and execution.
