Summary
The Quantitative Analytics department plays a key role in supporting the Bank’s strong Credit Risk culture. Our team specializes in building and maintaining modeling and analytics to identify credit concentrations, predict losses, measure portfolio profitability, and analyze individual credits.
Working together, we develop innovative and effective solutions to estimate the Bank’s credit exposure, support its Business Lines, and create value from data driven insights.
Job Description
The Data Scientist will be responsible for exploring data and making a positive business impact by applying data science concepts to address business needs. This position collaborates effectively with internal stakeholders and cross-functional teams to deploy quantitative solutions to create value. The Data Scientist will be responsible for documenting, running, maintaining and/or validating models relied upon for impactful business decisions and processes as well as their effects on our customers.

How You'll Spend Your Time
- You will conduct independent data investigations and prepare regular and ad hoc reports for internal teams and external partners.
- You will collaborate with business partners and data science colleagues to design solutions that meet business objectives, comply with regulatory requirements, and create value to the organization
- You will ensure stakeholders understand model goals, assumptions, limitations, and expected performance.
- You will prepare model documentation that complies with Model Risk Management policies to promote transparency and reduce risk.
- You will maintain and retrain models to ensure they continue to perform effectively.
- You will perform independent model validation to confirm reliability and compliance with regulatory and policy standards.
- You will develop models and insights that address business challenges and support cross-functional data projects.
Education & Experience Requirements
This level of knowledge is normally acquired through completion of a Bachelor’s Degree in a quantitative discipline such as Statistics, Mathematics, Econometrics, Computer Science, or Operational Research or related field of study and 2+ years of directly related experience in an analytics / data science environment building and deploying models using analytics software/languages (R, Python, SAS, etc.) and relational databases (SQL) or equivalent combination of education and experience. A Master’s degree in a related field is preferred.
- Exposure to model validation, model design, and/or execution of analytical projects.
- Would be a plus: Familiarity with model risk management standards and regulation.
- Introduction to linear regression, time-series analysis, and other statistical methods.
- Ability to produce high quality technical documentation and to present issues in a clear and concise manner.
- Self-motivation, discipline, task focus, and a proven record of delivering high quality results within strict deadlines.
- Intellectual curiosity; problem-solving abilities and attention to detail; and prompt follow-through.
- Ability to aggregate and synthesize data from multiple sources.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
