Job Description
The Leave of Absence Specialist is primarily responsible for managing and processing the lifecycle of an employee’s leave of absence, responsible for creating a positive employee and manager experience and seamless Leave of Absence administration; ensures the timely and accurate payment of all pay related to leaves of absence; resolves problems and responds to inquiries of a complex and specialized nature; interprets and advises employees on leave of absence policies and procedures.

How You'll Spend Your Time
- You will manage all aspect of the Leave of Absence cycle, act as the primary resource for employees and managers regarding leave benefits end dates, Short Term and Long-Term Disability benefit issues and resolve employee issues and provide education to employees on how to file a claim.
- You will schedule calls and meetings with employees and managers to ensure a positive and informed experience, communicate on-going expectations with employees, respond to leave of absence inquiries by email or phone to ensure employees are aware of their responsibilities and that all relevant paperwork is submitted in a timely manner.
- You will be responsible for creating a positive employee and manager experience and seamless Leave of Absence administration; ensures the timely and accurate payment of all pay related to leaves of absence, resolve problems and respond to inquiries of a complex and specialized nature, interpret and advise employees on leave of absence policies and procedures.
- You will partner closely with third party administrator to track approvals and resolve discrepancies, accurately process leave actions in payroll, timekeeping and HR systems to ensure employees are paid accurately and correctly, provide metrics and reporting for trends, leave analysis and dashboard reports.
Education & Experience Requirements
This level of knowledge is normally acquired through completion of an Associate’s Degree in Business or related field of study and 2 + years of directly related experience in Human Resources or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Understanding and application of federal and state disability and paid family leave laws (i.e., ADA, FMLA, PDL, etc.) and policies a plus.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills. Able to effectively communicate with employees at all levels from senior management to business services employees.
- Strong Word and Excel skills,
- Organized, detail oriented and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast pace environment
- Ability to work independently, think analytically and creatively.
- Must be able to maintain confidentiality of protected and sensitive data and ensure compliance with HIPAA
