The Business Analyst II is primarily responsible for defining and performing analysis, design, documentation, planning, and deployment of systems software and procedures which require moderate technical and systems knowledge; has understanding of Project Management Methodology and able to manage and/or apply testing for moderately complex projects; provides day-to-day support, change control, and severity notification for applications systems.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Analytical Skills: Writes basic business requirements including data retention specs, report definition, and data security requirements for moderately complex projects. Writes functional requirements including data access and retention specs, and report definition for moderately complex projects. Provides moderately complex business process modeling. Provides project estimates for moderately complex projects and enhancements. Reads and restarts job scheduling needs. Sets up 1-5 moderately complex jobs and dependencies.

  2. Application Support Skills: Applies business application patches and releases. Diagnoses and remediates problems. Performs root cause analysis. Executes Disaster Recovery processes. Develops and maintains application documentation. Completes application configuration of simple control files. Installs desktop clients. Creates, presents, and manages Change Controls. Creates and manages Severity Notifications and prepares communications to lines of business during an incident.

  3. Technical Skills: Creates simple reports from database repositories. Performs simple queries. Performs production deployments.

  4. Project Management Skills: Manages simple projects using bank’s existing methodology, artifacts, funding, etc. Performs testing on moderately complex projects and enhancements. Assists with development of test cases for Systems Integration Testing.

  5. Relationship Management Skills:Manages the relationship between Information Technology and the Line of Business supervisory (Officer, AVP) and management level (AVP, VP). Prioritizes line of business projects and enhancement requests.

  6. Enterprise Architecture Skills: Employs Information Technology Governance policies. Employs architecture methodologies. Employs SOA Governance policies. Employs Information Technology and Information Security standards. 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES:

  • Moderate understanding of single application data flows across multiple applications
  • Complex security knowledge
  • Understanding of application disaster recovery
  • Awareness of software integration, system integration, and technology used
  • Moderate understanding of RDBMS principles and tools
  • Knowledge of simple infrastructure principles
  • Moderate understanding of tiered environments (e.g. development, testing, UAT, production, DR)
  • Moderate understanding of IT and IS standards and concepts
  • Moderate understanding of Project Management Methodology (basic framework, phases, artifacts, process, and project funding)
  • Moderate understanding of Quality / Testing Methodologies and tools
  • Moderate understanding of Line of Business goals and objectives
  • Moderate understanding of IT lifecycle Governance
  • Moderate understanding the role of Enterprise Architecture
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

This level of knowledge is normally acquired through completion of a Bachelor’s Degree in Management Information Systems or Computer Science and 3+ years related experience or 5+ years in bank operations.
