Job Description
The Chief Data Officer (CDO) drives the organization's data strategy, transforming data into a strategic asset to maximize business value. This executive leader defines and implements a modern data architecture, ensures robust data governance and compliance, and optimizes the delivery of high-quality data to support project execution, business strategies and decision-making. The CDO leads the enterprise data team, managing budgets, developing talent, and partnering with senior leaders to align data initiatives with strategic priorities. This role demands a blend of strategic vision, technical expertise, and strong leadership to drive data innovation, delivery and deliver measurable business outcomes.

How You'll Spend Your Time
- You will define and execute the enterprise data strategy, aligning with business objectives and collaborating with stakeholders.
- You will establish data as a strategic asset, driving business value through proactive identification of opportunities and mitigation of risks.
- You will partner with IT to scan for emerging management tools, techniques, and technologies, including AI, for competitive advantage and to minimize duplication.
- You will develop and maintain a robust data operating model, encompassing platform, architecture, and governance.
- You will lead data management and engineering to deliver trusted, high-quality data assets for critical business functions, analytics, financial, and regulatory reporting.
- You will optimize data platform technology, partnering with IT and InfoSec to integrate initiatives and explore emerging technologies like AI.
- You will ensure compliance with financial services regulations and data protection laws, collaborating with Risk Management and Finance.
- You will establish and enforce enterprise data governance frameworks, including data stewardship, policies, and control for critical data elements, master data, and metadata management.
Education & Experience Requirements
A bachelor's or master's degree in STEM, computer science, data science, information systems, or related field. Will consider equivalent work experience. 15+ years of business experience, ideally in business management, financial, data, or IT management. Recently, at or near the executive level in the financial services industry.
- Proven expertise in modern data architectures (cloud platforms, data warehousing, data lakes), data integration technologies, and BI/analytics tools.
- Comprehensive understanding of financial services regulations, data privacy laws, and banking operations.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and execute data strategies, optimize data delivery, and drive measurable business outcomes. Includes agile and modern ways of working in a technical high paced environment.
- Proven ability to establish and enforce robust data governance frameworks and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills with the ability to articulate a data vision and gain buy-in from executive leadership and stakeholders across the organization.
- Proven ability to build, lead, and develop high-performing data teams.
