Job Description

The Sr Data Engineer - Enterprise Data Products works in close collaboration to design, develop, implement and support various types of data solutions across all lines of BOKF Financial.  This position requires close interaction, influencing, and collaboration with other engineers, architects, analytics partners, vendor partners, and functional leaders.   The level IV Engineer defines enterprise-wide best practices, methodologies, governance, and standards and serves as a data solutions subject matter expert.  Mentors and coaches Levels I, II & III.

How You'll Spend Your Time

  • In this role, you will work closely with the business to understanding their goals. 
  • You will collaborate with technology partners to architect, design, and build data and analytics solutions that empower business success. 
  • Your deliverables could be data flows, architecture diagrams, data model, data integration, data controls, transformations, and more! 
  • The Enterprise Data Solutions team is cross-functional, so building and growing expertise is a continuous "responsibility" for this position.

Essential Duties

  • Serves as a key consultant and thought-leader to the business units and Enterprise Data Solutions Team for all facets of solution delivery of data, analytics deliverables & data roadmaps; develops strong understanding of both long and short-term objectives of the business as it relates to analytics and delivers recommendations around strategic decisions; and articulates, in business terms, the impact of technology decisions; communicates and influences strategies and processes around data modeling and architecture.
  • Facilitates collaboration with analytics and business teams to design and develop data architecture, increasing usability, data value, data accessibility and fostering data-driven decision making across the organization
  • Vets and approves open source and vendor tools to support Data Management (ETL, ELT, master data management, data catalog, data lineage, etc).
  • Defines over-arching enterprise solutions to enable data accessibility with a specific focus on an agile, secure, efficient, and reliable data collection and distribution strategy that is driven by business needs, analytical solution requirements and human capital considerations.
  • Defines, executes, delivers, and assists with adoption of data solutions roadmap for all business lines in support of overall data strategy.
  • Develops, manages and deploys best in practice data collection, data governance, storage and manipulation techniques (extract, transform and load) that ultimately enable the business to unlock additional value from their data.
  • Implements appropriate data stores and data models within our Data Warehouse and Data Lake platforms.
  • Designs and develops ETL processes, creates and/or modifies data marts, and leads in the application of analytics.
  • Acts as an escalation point for the team and helps remove barriers to ensure end-user consulting continue moving forward.
  • Works collaboratively with levels I, II and III providing leadership, growing employee capabilities and knowledge, and fostering a high performance culture.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Education & Experience Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in a data-centric field (Computer Science, Economics, Information Systems, Data Analytics, etc.) and minimum 7 Years’ experience with demonstrated track record of successful technical leadership in the execution of large-scale data projects

  • Experience in performing operations and automation of various big-data ecosystems in production environments on AWS or a related cloud service.
  • Experience in building scalable data pipelines involving machine learning, optimization or prediction
  • Strong understanding of Enterprise Data Warehouse concepts.
  • Strong hands-on experience designing, developing and testing business intelligence & analytics solutions using proven or emerging technologies in a variety of technologies and environments
  • Well-developed oral and written communication skills to effectively represent self and BOKF, as well as ability to present complex information and issues in a clear and concise manner
  • Well-developed conceptual thinking and analytical skills with the ability to analyze complex problems that include interrelationships and dependencies in order to identify common themes and solutions
  • Strong sense of accountability, taking ownership over projects and responsibilities, and resolving issues proactively
  • Experience with Denodo, Kafka is a plus.
