The Director, Petroleum Engineeringis responsible for developing and implementing the strategic direction of the department in an effort to meet and exceed goals while ensuring the accurate and quality technical evaluation of petroleum assets. Communicate results in a timely and professional manner to staff, clients and senior/executive management; serve as a resource, supervisor and advisor to the Petroleum Engineering Managers, Engineers and support staff and insures demand and capacity is balanced across the organization. Establish policies/protocols and ensures accountability and collaborative relationships exists between all parties.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Supervise work and load of Petroleum Engineering Managers, Engineers, Engineering Analyst(s), and third-party technical consultants; determine work capacity and priorities; establish policies/protocols; oversee the orientation, training and development of team members; evaluates work performance of personnel and recommends hiring, terminations and associated personnel actions.
  2. Performs complex analysis of wells and property sets historical performance and/or processing facilities; forecasts future production of oil and gas reserves; calculates loan value, half-life of properties, and other required loan data; writes reports of oil and gas well evaluations and/or processing facilities to support loan structures; briefs Account Managers on production problems and processing complications. Remain abreast of industry technological advances; analyzes, maintains, and coordinates upgrades of software applications used by engineering department.
  3. Ensures the technical accuracy of summary results to verify realistic performance projections. Confirms both the input parameters and evaluation results; presents data requirements, acquires client information, and performs quality checks in each engineering evaluation; recognizes the client’s business objectives in producing and developing oil and gas reserves through capital expenditures.
  4. Communicates the results of reserve categories, economic base case and sensitivity runs; responds to requests for production updates, roll forward and asset group summaries in order to meet time deadlines and management reporting; provides advice to management on project evaluations and unique complexities and timing constraints; provides information on industry price trends
  5. Represent the Energy Lending Group by calling, visiting, and attending meetings with client companies, coordinates and communicates engineering information requirements and follow up


. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES:
  • Extensive knowledge of Oil & Gas Law and contracts
  • Exceptional knowledge of daily operations activity and equipment associated with oil and gas producing leases
  • Extensive knowledge of methods and requirements used in the valuation of producing and non-producing minerals and working interests
  • Advanced knowledge of criteria, guidelines, and government regulations associated with oil and gas operations
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Advanced knowledge of PC applications including spreadsheets, word processing, database, graphics presentation software, and oil & gas and engineering software packages
  • Excellent organizational skills; ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a competent and professional manner
  • Excellent leadership and mentoring abilities in developing and supervising others
This level of knowledge is normally acquired through completion of a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering and 12+ years work experience as a Petroleum Engineer; or 18+ years of equivalent work related experience. PREFERRED: PE Certification
