Job Description

The Director, User Experience Design is responsible for developing, maturing, and overseeing the execution of BOKF’s user experience design best practices. This leadership role directs the strategic development and day-to-day operations of the User Experience Design team. Responsible for ensuring teams are highly engaged and aligned to all facets of the product roadmaps providing researched effective user experience designs. Responsible for overall internal and external client satisfaction of product design and for advancing the maturity of these practices at an enterprise level.

How You'll Spend Your Time

  • You will develop, deliver, maintain and lead the evolution of the Digital User Experience Strategy / Playbook in close collaboration with other senior leaders and digital product owners.
  • You will ensure new platforms/features comply with BOKF Digital Design Language and are highly aligned with meeting the goals and objectives of the business.
  • You will recruit, develop, motivate and inspire a high-caliber team and provide real-time coaching and feedback.
  • You will oversee an annual operating budget and ensure timely and accurate tracking of employee time and seek out opportunities to drive measurable saving and efficiencies.
  • You will lead the teams responsible for executing BOKF’s Digital Roadmaps and ensure all work is performed in alignment with well documented, repeatable, efficient processes.

Education & Experience Requirements

This level of knowledge is normally acquired through completion of a Bachelor’s Degree in a related field of study and a minimum of 5 years of directly related experience in Digital Design or User Experience with a minimum of 3 years of experience managing teams of professionals who perform functions in User Experience Design or equivalent combination of education and experience. The incumbent should be well versed in relevant best practices including lean UX, atomic design principles, and design thinking.  

  • Deep understanding of the evolving digital world, in particular in the fields of product design, user experience, and usability research
  • Understanding of experience analytics and analysis of qualitative and quantitative data
  • Knowledge of, and practical experience with usability research methodologies and test automation strategies
  • Strong business acumen, including domain-specific knowledge of the company and its business units
  • Excellent analytical thinking, strategic conceptual thinking, design thinking, and consulting skills
  • Ability to effectively drive people, process and technology change in a dynamic and complex operating environment
  • Leads usability research and experience strategy formulation in conjunction with other business partners
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to explain digital concepts and technologies to business leaders, as well as business concepts to technologists
  • Exceptional soft and interpersonal skills, including collaboration, teamwork, mentorship coaching, facilitation and negotiation
  • Strong leadership, influence and negotiation skills
  • Experience managing an experience design team
  • Accomplished developer of talent
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills
  • Familiarity with basic graphical modeling approaches, design systems, tools and model repositories
  • A customer-driven passion for excellence
