Job Description
The Senior Manager, Corporate Tax has responsibility for managing federal, state, bank regulatory, and ASC 740 tax accounting and compliance, tax research, planning, and special projects such as mergers and acquisitions, sale/use tax processes, and federal and state tax notices and audits. Position will require expert knowledge of federal and state tax compliance, tax accounting for external financial statements as well as managing a team in order to meet strict internal/external filing deadlines.

How You'll Spend Your Time
- You will manage complex tax and accounting analysis for tax planning, including effective tax rate calculation and reserve analysis for interim and annual reporting.
- You will oversee quarterly and year-end federal and state tax accruals, ensuring correct GAAP and tax reporting, and supervise federal and state income and sales/use processes.
- You will provide support and technical assistance on various tax issues, review new transactions and tax credit opportunities, and maintain compliance systems.
- You will lead research and analysis of business transactions to determine tax effects, and manage special projects related to new tax and accounting laws and regulations.
- You will prepare technical position papers, formulate and implement tax policies and procedures, and lead tax due diligence for mergers and acquisitions.
- You will lead a team of tax accountants, fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration, and focus on recruiting, developing, and retaining top accounting talent.
Education & Experience Requirements
CPA certification and 10+ years work experience in a corporate tax department or public accounting (tax) environment including 5+ years in a supervisory capacity. CPA certification generally requires a Master’s degree with a minimum of 30 hours concentrated in accounting and related studies. Preferred experience with federal, state, and local audits.
- In-depth knowledge and understanding of municipal, state, and federal income tax laws and regulations including strong tax research skills
- Knowledge of tax and GAAP implications regarding mergers and acquisitions and employee benefits
- Extensive knowledge and understanding of prevailing GAAP and ASC 740, FIN 48
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Excellent organizational and planning skills and proven ability to work as a team to meet multiple project deadlines
- Demonstrated strong analytical, problem solving, and decision-making skills with a detail-oriented focus
- Experience with or ability to learn major corporate tax and provision preparation software.
- Exceptional microcomputer application and spreadsheet software skills
- Excellent soft and interpersonal skills, including teamwork, facilitation and ability to train others
- Exceptional leadership, influence and negotiation skills
