Senior Systems Administrator - Storage

The Senior System Administrator (Storage) Responsible for managing, and supporting large Enterprise Storage environment, including SAN, NAS, and local disk.  Performs troubleshooting for storage related server issues, both physical and virtual. Provides storage specifications based on application needs and anticipated growth, and maintains storage infrastructure.


  1. Monitors and tunes the systems to achieve optimum performance and ensures requirements are met including capacity and security. Identifies and resolves complex problems in a timely manner in support of production needs. Manages the daily operation of complex systems. Ensures systems availability and recoverability by monitoring and managing disk space usage, CPU utilization, I/O requirements and other server management requirements. Troubleshoots and resolves server and application related issues while adhering to procedures.
  2. Responds to systems alerts, investigates and recovers hardware failures, and recovers failed systems and applications. Utilizes advanced trouble shooting and tuning abilities to resolve problems and improve system performance.
  3. Evaluates, recommends and implements software and hardware upgrades, patches and maintenance to provide performance, capacity and security to storage related systems. Installs new software releases and system upgrades. Tracks compatibility between versions and the composite of software utilized across the enterprise.
  4. Monitors system configuration, maintains data integrity.
  5. Assists other Information Technology personnel with the day-in-day-out activities of Domain Administration, backup and recovery, VMware administration, server problems resolution, performance and security issues and researching and implementing new technologies. Provides direction and leadership to System’s Administrators and associate Systems Administrators.


  • Extensive knowledge of Enterprise Storage technologies, including SAN, NAS, and Fibre Channel networking.  Specific experience with Brocade Fibre Channel Fabrics, HDS HNAS, and NetApp Cluster Mode NAS a plus.
  • Knowledge and experience creating and allocating SAN volumes, provisioning and managing NAS file systems, and deploying and extending storage to physical and virtual servers.
  • Knowledge and experience creating and managing Fibre Channel zones and ports for SAN storage.
  • Ability to troubleshoot issues on all storage hardware and software as necessary.
  • Thorough knowledge of file systems and protocols including, but not limited to NTFS, VMFS, NFS, CIFS.
  • Recognized as a subject matter expert in Storage systems.
  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of computer operating systems including Microsoft Windows and Unix/Linux.
  • Extensive knowledge of Virtual Server environments and related storage infrastructure.
  • Thorough knowledge of management of information systems and best practice.
  • Excellent organizational skills, Self-directed with ability to independently solve problems.
  • Strong interpersonal skills including oral and written communication skills. Clearly communicates with customers, peer group and multiple levels of management. Strong teamwork and collaboration skills
  • Extensive server and workstation skills, ability to write scripts in multiple administrative languages (PowerShell, PowerCLI, Tk, Perl, Corn shell).
  • Good understanding of leading-edge technologies and how they are applied in the banking industry.

This level of knowledge is normally acquired through completion of a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field. And 6-10 years’ experience as a Storage Systems Administrator.
