About the Role

As a Wealth Management Strategic Risk Officer, you will identify areas of potential risk for the business line and/or clients.  You will develop processes, procedures, and reporting systems to mitigate risk.  You will work with other risk management professionals to implement, test, and ensure that controls are effective.  You will provide risk management oversite of the business line and escalate risk management issues to senior leadership. 

What You Can Expect

Each day will bring variety. As our organization grows, you will ensure policies and procedures are compliant with state and federal regulations.  You will test work flows to ensure controls are effective.  You will work closely with employees in wealth management to make sure they are following processes and procedures.

You will be an advisor to senior management by sharing your knowledge of current trends and changes on risk matters related to the wealth management line of business.  You will work with various internal and external teams and sit on committees related to risk management.  You will have supportive leadership that seeks your guidance and be collaborative in identifying solutions.

How You'll Spend Your Time


  • You will challenge the current risk and governance structure with a view to make it robust and accountable.
  • You will lead the business line for preparation of formal audits and with responses, protocols and actions to be taken during a formal review.
  • You will need strong communication skills to work collaboratively with the business line, senior leadership, and other risk and control functions.
  • You will need meticulous attention to detail to complete risk assessments, write policies and procedures, implement and test controls to mitigate risk.
  • You will need knowledge of the competitive marketplace for recommending the right product set, technology solutions, and pricing.
  • You will have a passion for continuous learning to stay on top of industry trends of fiduciary and/or corporate trustee regulations.

PROBLEM SOLVER: You can track and solve complex problems in a variety of situations and function effectively in rapidly changing or uncertain conditions.

Education & Experience Requirements

This level of knowledge is normally acquired through completion of a Bachelor’s degree and 10 + years of fiduciary and / or corporate trustee knowledge and experience with Wealth relationships, or 15 + years equivalent experience.

Preferred: Juris Doctorate or Masters in Business Administration
